Derbyshire pulled off one of the most astonishing wins in County Championship history, as they recovered from being bowled out for just 44 in their first innings to beat Gloucestershire by 54 runs. The amazing victory was set up by rookie teenager Chesney Hughes, whose unbeaten 96 in the second innings guided Derbyshire to 236 all out.
it would not have been a bad idea to offer him a dev contract to lure him back here... but he signed with the county team already so i would assume that he would give preference to them...
I hope he can show up for some of the FC season here in the WI so we can get a better look at him...
Looks a strong lad. Check out his forearm in this BBC article.
To be sure he's not a complete player. Seems to favour the attacking game style though I've seen innings where he's played ultra defensive. Both Collymore and Pedro got him out for cheap this season but he's gotten the better of other veteran bowlers.
He looks an overall stalky fella..

@matchstick
Interesting interview. Seems he didn't realize how big a part he'd play in the 4 day team by the end of the season. With Rogers going to Middlesex next season he maybe called on to shoulder even more responsibility in the 4 day and odi team.
@Misologist
I would think at this point they would have seen enough to start building the batting around him...
Is Derby's season over?
If so I hope Chesney comes back for the Windies ODI domestic tourney.
