Toss South Africa have won and chosen to bat. It's a dead batting wicket, so they say. It must have been a simple decision to chose to bat. South Africa are unchanged while Kemar Roach has replaced Pascal for West Indies.
If we not playing DM Bravo and Pascal why not let them return to England to play India A?!
Also how Sammy doan get game?! Expected him to come in on this dead track. Especially since he adds to the batting.
Smith: "This was an important toss. It looks a good batting wicket and we would like to make first use of it. We have spoken about how the important the last 12-14 days of the tour are. We want to be consistent and achieve what we want over the next five days. We have the same team."Gayle: "I am disappointed that we lost the toss. Little bit selfish as an opening batsman I would have liked to bat here! The pitch seems like a road. It doesn't deteriorate here. Roach is back and it's good to have him. "
Flat flat track.
RSA 30 without loss after 5 overs
Graeme Smith (lhb) 6 (21 balls)
Alviro Petersen (rhb) 18 (15 balls)
59 without loss easy. 14 overs have passed.
Graeme Smith (lhb) 23 (47 balls)
Alviro Petersen (rhb) 29 (43 balls)
WI needs to set themselves an attainable target (4 wickets today?). And look to frustrate the batsmen...
this is going to be test match cricket at it's worst!
23.1 Shillingford to Petersen, OUT, Petersen has thrown his wicket away. There was a hundred for the taking but he is gone now. It was a nicely flighted delivery and he went for the big sweep shot but top edged it towards fine-leg. Roach rushed in from the deep and dived forward to take a very good catch. Shillingford gets the reward for his effort to keep flighting the ballAN Petersen c Roach b Shillingford 52 (70b 3x4 2x6) SR: 74.28
@matchstick

Of course we didn't have the greatest start...
3.4 Morkel to Dowlin, OUT, First wicket is down. It was a back-of-length delivery that straightened outside off stump. Dowlin pushes out at it, bat away from the body, and edges it to third slip where AB dives to his right to take it. Very nicely pouched! Enter Deonarine. They had Nash batting at no 3 in the first Test.TM Dowlin c de Villiers b Morkel 10 (16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 62.50

Overnight and early-morning rain delays start. There were some wet patches near the pitch and the ground staff are at work.
The umpires are having an official inspection. The news is that we might have play at 10.20 am. For the current local time, just glance up on this screen, , just above the score data of the two batsmen, you will the current time thingy.
Match Start.
95 for 1 pretty easy. 28 overs have passed.
Chris Gayle (lhb)48 (78 balls)
Narsingh Deonarine (lhb) 34 (77 balls)
Gayle goes. Inside edge onto stumps.
Morkel to Gayle, out Bowled!! Big wicket!! fuller delivery just outside off, it was angled into Gayle, he went for the backfoot drive, feet nowhere near the line of the ball, inside edges it back onto middle stump, Morkel punches his fist in the air, he knows how important this wicket was!! Gayle has to make a long walk and South Africa open their account for the day! Gayle b Morkel 50(84) [4s-8]
31.1 Morkel to Gayle, OUT, Castled! Chris Gayle has dragged it on. Full delivery outside off stump, from round the stumps, Gayle's weight was on the back foot when he went for the big cover drive. The ball collided with the inside edge and fell on the stumpsCH Gayle b Morkel 50 (84b 8x4 0x6) SR: 59.52

Oh as he goes back to his bowling run up, rain starts to fall down here at St Kitts, the covers are out and it's time for me to sip a cup of coffee.

Narsingh Deonarine (lhb) 46 (105 balls)
Shivnarine Chanderpaul (lhb) 5 (16 balls)
Steyn to Chanderpaul, no run, Chanderpaul has been struck by the bouncer And he falls down to the ground. He gets up quickly though. It came in from outside off and Chanderpaul took his eyes off, dropped his wrists, got the bat out of the way and tried to yank his head away even as he tried to get down on his knee. Too late. The ball rammed into the side of his face ...on the helmet side grill of course. And he sunk to the ground. Steyn grimaced and rushed towards Chanders who got up around then. Now the physio is out there. Many batsmen have got hit by the bouncers in this Test match. hmmm. Jacques Kallis, Deonarine, Chanders ... Chanderpaul now sips some water. Sammy, the 12th man, is out there talking to him. The ump Asad Rauf too is around. And so is Simon Taufel,
Play held up. Long delay but makes more sense than the long loo break that they gave AB yesterday!.
Just got back to see what happened.
Here's the highlights.
After being dropped on 65.
44.5 Kallis to Deonarine, 3 runs, DRopped by Amla at short cover point Tough chance. Again, Deo went for the cut and went hard at it and didn't bother to keep it down. The ball flew fast to the left of Amla who lunged out with his left hand but couldn't hold on. That was traveling really fast
Deo didn't make the most of his reprieve.
45.1 Steyn to Deonarine, OUT, Dragged on. It was the back-of-length delivery outside off stump and Deonarine went too hard at it. He tried to force it off the back foot - neither a cut, nor a drive- and the bat came down in an angle. The ball caught the inside edge and clatter! He was cramped for room there and went too hard at that.N Deonarine b Steyn 65 (131b 5x4 1x6) SR: 49.61
But then Nash the rock joined Shiv with the score on 151 for 3.
The middle order rock men both got the 50s and then centuries one deserves on this flat track!!
66.4 Harris to Chanderpaul, FOUR, 54th Test fifty. He reached out, picked the flighted delivery from outside off and swept it to the square-leg boundary. Smashed!
74.1 Petersen to Nash, 1 run, on the middle and leg, turned behind square-leg.And that's his 7th Test fifty
Form is temporary. Class es permanente!!
89.2 Steyn to Chanderpaul, 2 runs, Hundred no 22. Full delivery around off stump and Chanderpaul square drives it superbly to bring up his hundred. He goes down on his knee and kisses the pitch. 5th v South Africa. He wasn't in great form in the recent months ..
Badman Nash gets his 2nd test century. Well done. Great addition to WI team.
91.1 Steyn to Nash, FOUR, Now Nash gets his hundred. And he leaps for joy as he sees the ball race away to the boundary. His 2nd Test hundred. It was the short delivery and I guess he was expecting it; he pulls it past square-leg. The crowd celebrate. His family is in the stands and they are obviously very joyous
In the end after a partnership of 220. Nash was sadly runout leaving WI 371 for 4.!!
95.6 Tsotsobe to Nash, OUT, Nash is run out Oh dear what a way to go. He had cut to backward point and set for a non-existent run. It bounced over the head of AB who leaped, grabbed the ball and fired a direct hit. Nash had turned back and tried to dive bacm inside the crease but couldn't beat the throw. He must have thought that the ball would bounce over AB but it was a very risky move to step down the track. That's that. He falls after hitting his second Test ton.BP Nash run out 114 (148b 14x4 1x6) SR: 77.02
